# ProjectionLab vs WealthScout: features and differences

> ProjectionLab offers more kinds of forecast test than anything else here, and every figure in it is entered manually. WealthScout tracks what you own as well as projecting it: share and crypto prices update automatically, you record the rent and running costs for each property, and the projection uses those figures instead of a copy you retyped last month.

## Feature by feature

| Question | WealthScout | ProjectionLab |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Do my share and crypto prices update automatically? | Yes — Share prices update automatically during the trading day. Crypto prices update at least every fifteen minutes. | No — Values stay at whatever you last entered, so the projection is out of date once prices change. |
| Does it track what I own, or only forecast it? | Yes — It records trades, dividends, property costs, loans, cash, income and spending, then projects from them. | No — You enter the assets, debts, income and costs it needs. It projects from them but stores no history. |
| Can I run Monte Carlo or past market tests? | No — You compare named scenarios, dated changes and drawdown order. Those two tests are not built. | Yes — Monte Carlo tests, past market tests, tax tools and plan rules. |
| Will the forecast use the figures I already track? | Yes — The forecast uses the figures you already track, so there is nothing to retype. | No — You enter the starting figures yourself, and again every time they change. |
| Does it compare the result against my projection automatically? | Yes — You confirm the figures each month, and the app compares them with what you projected. | No — You add progress to its journal by hand, entry by entry. |
| Can I review gains from trades I have already made? | Partly — You get a factual summary of what you sold and the raw gain or loss on it, not a tax calculation. | No — It projects future tax effects rather than reporting on past trades. |
| Does it calculate the tax on assets held in a trust or company? | Yes — Every asset belongs to an owner. The projection calculates tax on returns, and again when money is paid out. | No — It calculates personal tax only. It does not calculate the tax an entity pays, or the tax on money paid out of one. |

## Choose ProjectionLab when

- Your main need is a separate planning tool.
- You need its Monte Carlo or past market tests now.
- You need one of its current tax or withdrawal tools now.
- You already track your shares, property and debt somewhere else and are happy there.

## Choose WealthScout when

- You would rather not retype your finances every time they change.
- You want share and crypto prices to update automatically.
- You want the tax calculated when money is paid out of a trust or company.
- You want to compare what actually happened with what you forecast.

## Where WealthScout falls short

ProjectionLab offers more kinds of forecast test than WealthScout does, including Monte Carlo and historical market runs. It stores no records, so those tests start from the figures you last entered manually.

## A projection is only as accurate as the figures it uses

In ProjectionLab every value is entered manually. The projection is accurate on the day you build it and less accurate by the end of the month, because market prices have changed and the figures you entered have not.
WealthScout records the figures instead of asking you to remember them. Share prices update automatically during the trading day and crypto prices at least every fifteen minutes, and the projection uses the figures you last confirmed.

## One app instead of two

ProjectionLab stores no transaction history. Your trades, property costs and loan balances are recorded somewhere else, and you copy the totals across manually.
WealthScout does both. You record your shares, property, mortgage, cash, income and spending, and the projection uses the same figures. There is no second tool to keep up to date.

## Who owns an asset changes the tax you pay on it

ProjectionLab calculates personal income and capital gains tax carefully. It does not calculate the tax an entity pays on its own income, or the tax charged when money is paid out of a trust, a company or a self-managed retirement structure.
In WealthScout every asset belongs to an owner. The projection calculates the tax on returns while the asset stays with that owner, and the tax charged again when money is paid out to a person. If you hold assets in a trust or company, leaving that second tax out overstates what you will actually receive.

## You can see which assets changed the estimate

When a WealthScout projection changes, you can trace it back to the holding, property or loan whose value changed. Shares, property, cash, debt, income and spending are each recorded separately rather than combined into one assumption.
You can also compare afterwards. Each later month is measured against what you projected, so you can see how accurate the projection has been.

## Questions

**What is the main difference between ProjectionLab and WealthScout?**

ProjectionLab only projects, from figures you enter manually. WealthScout tracks and projects: share and crypto prices update automatically, you record the rent and costs for each property, and the projection uses those figures directly.

**Can both products compare plans?**

Yes. WealthScout compares named plans and dated changes from your confirmed position. ProjectionLab offers plan tests and Compare Mode.

**Which product tracks current investments in more detail?**

WealthScout. It records every trade, dividend and cost, and updates holding prices automatically during the trading day. ProjectionLab projects investment accounts but stores no trade history.

**Do either of them link to bank accounts?**

Neither does. ProjectionLab states that it does not link to accounts, and WealthScout has no bank connections at this stage. In WealthScout you upload broker files and enter balances, and share and crypto prices update automatically.
